Kates Playground Underwater

Ex Oriente Lux?

I am writing now a section on the acceptance of Christianity by Emperor Constantine in the new volume of my History of World Politics. " All enlightened people know that before one of the battles he had a vision of the cross in the sky with the inscription "Sim conquer!". But what is interesting. Historians of Constantine disagree as to which side of the sky Constantine saw the glow of the cross - in the West or the East. Eusebius of Caesarea wrote that in the West: "Once, when the sun is already beginning to gravitate to the West - said basileuses - I own eyes saw convoys of light and lay in the sun sign of the cross with the inscription "Sim win!". But here's another church historian of that era Filostorgy argues that the phenomenon of cross was in the East: "Sign of the Cross was revealed to East, stretch very far, displayed a surprising light. Star surrounded on all sides, like a rainbow, folding in the form of letters. Letters as these were in Latin, the word "Sim wins."

So where, pancake, light? From East or West lit up the first revelation of Christ to власть предержащих? Ведь геополитические коннотации этого очевидны (пресловутого Толкина с его светом с Запада уж и не вспоминаю). И еще говорят, что Angelology - unnecessary in the 21 st century science!
